HOT SPOT - SPYHOUSE COFFEE, MN

I can remember the feeling of my heart pounding out of my chest, trying to remain calm as I rode in his car. I was actually going on a date with Mason G.

We made small talk over traffic and bumps in the road. My palms were sweaty, he was nervous, but we were so excited to be together. He parked his car behind what seemed to be a busy warehouse and we walked into quite the inviting coffee shop- Spyhouse.

We broke awkward silence over lattes and a game of 20 questions. I think I

learned more about his humor in that one round than I ever intended to, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I was fascinated by him.

Two years later, now married, we’re still visiting that coffee shop and become familiar with the memories of discovering one another for the first time.

Mason and I love Minnesota’s Spyhouse coffee shops. In fact, we had our first date at their roasterie site!

There are currently 6 shops around the cities, each having their own style and vibe. For an edgy feel, head to the uptown shop that is painted with jet black walls and old framed pictures on the walls. The Northloop location holds a bright, more modern approach with floor to ceiling windows, whereas the Northeast location (our personal favorite) hosts a cozy environment with aged wood paneling and warm lit chandeliers.

To check out the other shops visit their website here.

A go to favorite drink for us is the Carmello- espresso doused in caramel and frothy, steamed milk. Their lattes are extremely rich and they don’t shy away from chocolate in their mochas.

If you’re looking for somewhere cozy and moody this season check out their locations for a yummy sip of espresso.
